Loose Wave Hair Styles

Whether you’re a regular Instagram scroller or just tune in when you’re in need of some hair, beauty, or style inspiration, chances are you’ve come across Amsterdam-based influencer, Negin Mirsalehi. A jaw-dropping beauty with an iconic fashion sense, it’s no wonder she’s cultivated such a huge following. But above all, what she’s most known for is her hair: a stream of long, gorgeous, healthy, loose waves with subtle highlights—a coveted style many of us are trying to recreate ourselves.

To help you out, Liliya from the Luxy Hair team shows you how to achieve Negin’s infamous waves yourself, whether your hair is short, long, fine, or thick. Don’t have colored hair but want to try out her gorgeous warm-toned highlights? We’re showing you how, no bleaching necessary!

So whether you’re headed to a fancy evening event or are just looking to try out a new curling technique for everyday, this look is perfect. Just check out the video tutorial below and follow along. Trust us, getting Negin’s signature loose waves is way easier than you might think.

Deep Wave Vs Loose Wave:how To Choose

The key to Negin’s look is those warm highlights and full hair, so begin by determining what shade of Luxy Hair extensions to use. While hair extensions are most often used to add length to your hair, they can also be used to add thickness and volume . If your hair is naturally long and thick, adding in some hair extensions that are a shade lighter than your base color can really help elevate your look and add dimension to your curls without any damage.

We recommend going a shade lighter than your hair color to get a seamless, highlighted effect. Since Liliya’s natural hair color is Chocolate Brown, she goes a shade lighter by using Chestnut Brown extensions to give her some soft, subtle highlights.

For some added dimension, she also uses a few wefts of the Dirty Blonde Luxy Hair extensions. While not going any more than one shade lighter than your base color is usually recommended, you can mix in some pieces that are two shades lighter for a bolder look.

For this tutorial, we will talk about achieving Negin’s waves using Chestnut Brown and Dirty Blonde, however, keep in mind that you can adjust these shades according to your hair color.

Start off by sectioning off your hair, at the nape of your neck just below your ears. Clip in a regular 3-clip weft that is one shade lighter than your hair (Liliya uses her Chestnut Brown Luxies).

Take a Chestnut Brown 4-clip weft and stack it over a Dirty Blonde 4-clip weft. This can be done by simply clipping your Chesnut Brown weft on top of your Dirty Blonde weft. Brush them together for a seamless, blended look before securing it onto your head. Although there are 2 wefts stacked together, you’ll essentially just have to clip one into your hair.

Repeat the process with the other two biggest wefts in your sets; stack them together and clip them into your hair, letting down additional layers of hair as you go to ensure everything looks blended and natural.

Finish off by clipping in some Chestnut Brown and Dirty Blonde wefts into the side of your hair to complete the look and ensure the highlights look balanced and uniform.

Now that your extensions are clipped in, it’s time to start curling your hair. To get Negin’s look, we recommend parting your hair down the middle and using a regular 1-inch curling wand of your choice.

Long, Wavy Hairstyles You'll Want To Wear Immediately

Start curling your hair from the back, taking small sections of hair as you go, curling away from your face. The trick to achieving a loose wave like Negin’s is to remember that the hair doesn’t have to fall perfectly flat against the curling iron. In fact, if the hair is a little bit twisted, it’ll actually help give it the bouncy curl we’re looking for.

Release the curl from the barrel, letting it cool down and set for a long-lasting style. Be sure your sections of hair aren’t too wide so that the heat distributes evenly and the curls are consistent. You can even clip up your hair into sections, releasing them as you go to ensure you don’t leave any hair straight.

Loose

Repeat the process throughout your head until all your hair is curled. Then, finish off the look with a couple drops of hair oil, especially if your hair tends to get frizzy. Be sure to choose a formula that won’t weigh your hair down to maintain the bounce of your style.

Easy Loose Waves Tutorial

Now, style your hair however you please! You can part your hair behind one ear, behind both ears, or leave it all free to frame your face. And that’s it, all you have left to do is enjoy your damage-free highlights and bouncy curls!

Je ne sais quoi, while curls are created (and worn) with more intention. Personally, we loved lived-in waves all year round, and they're actually super easy to recreate yourself (sometimes you can even create waves without heat styling). To get the lowdown on how to create some of our favorite wavy hairstyles, we reached out to Trey Gillen, creative director atSACHAJUAN, and Nick Stenson, celebrity stylist, for some expert advice.

Quinta Brunson achieves her half-up style by making a headband out of her own hair. To replicate the look, take three strands of hair from underneath and form a braid. Then, pin the braid over and on top of your head, as if it were a headband. Finish by using a wide-barrel curling iron to create loose waves on the ends.

Must Try Deep Wave Hairstyles

Elle Fanning's angelic waves don't stay too tight around her face, and are concentrated on the ends. The effect is more casual than some wavy styles and we love the center part, which modernizes the look.

As J. Lo demonstrates, a 1970s style shag can be modernized to look very 2020s. To get this look, Stenson says to prep the hair with Matrix Total Results High Amplify Flexible Hold Hairspray ($22) and work through the hair in small sections curling with a 1curling iron. Use your fingers to loosen the waves.

Blunt ends are great, but they can weigh your hair down. Adding in a wave will emphasize the volume and lighten things up. Enhance the texture with Philip B.'s Maui Wowie Beach Mist ($30).

Gorgeous Bridesmaid Hairstyles We're Totally Obsessed With

We love how Chanel Iman's side braid feeds into her natural waves. To replicate the look, create a French braid on one side of the head, over one ear and keep the rest of the hair at full volume.

Ashley Graham proves that waves can work in updos, too. Here, her hair is pulled into a messy bun, with her loose tendrils and ends curled with a small-barreled iron.

We love the sophisticated nature of a headband. For this look, curl hair first with a wide-barrelled curling iron. Once curls are completely cooled, brush through the waves with a paddle brush and place your headband to complete the look, says Stenson.

A stunning wavy hairstyle doesn't have to require much effort at all. Instead, you can simply embrace your natural texture for a stunning wavy look. I love this look because all season long,
